3 Tips on How to Stick to New Year’s Resolution

New Year Resolution The year is almost over, and we’re about to welcome a New Year! This is a perfect opportunity for us to right our wrongs, improve ourselves, and become better persons. Sometimes, giving yourself a fresh start is all that’s needed for you to finally achieve your goals. The challenge lies in sustaining your momentum. Below are our top three tips on how to stick to New Year’s Resolution.

#1 Visualize Your Goals

Never underestimate the power of your vision. Set some time for yourself in a room with no distractions. Focus on your goals and visualize yourself living the life you’ve always wanted. If your New Year’s resolution is to live a healthier lifestyle, imagine yourself as a fit woman on a morning run, feeling energized. Imagine yourself going for healthy food options, achieving your optimum weight, and looking good in your clothes! Doesn’t that feel good?

Now do the opposite and visualize yourself at your current state. Imagine yourself always feeling dull, eating comfort food, and depressed because you can’t fit into clothes or go out with friends. Not good!

Keep these visions in mind and revisit the mental images weekly. Sooner or later, when you’re about to make a choice related to your goal, you’ll find yourself immediately leaning towards the wonderful life you’ve imagined for yourself!

New Year Resolution Reminder #2 Remind Yourself Daily

So many things can happen in a year, and it’s easy to forget your New Year’s Resolutions. The secret is to always remind yourself by leaving little notes where you often see them when you wake up or before you go to sleep. If your goal is to save more, put your piggy bank in plain view with notes about feeding the piggy. Practice affirmations daily. If you want to be less grumpy, you can say, “I am a master of my emotions. I will not allow my temper to get the best of me.” These are very simple but powerful words! Make a list of affirmations. Later, when you are in a tough situation, this will be your calming mantra, your guide towards keeping your New Year’s resolutions.

#3 Be Accountable

Friends Support New Year Resolution Share your New Year’s resolutions with your friends and family members! By letting them know, you are making yourself accountable in front of the people that matter to you. That way, it’s harder to turn back on your goals! How gratifying would it be if you told your friends you’d achieve your optimum weight this year, and then telling them you actually reached your target. Conversely, it would be really awful if you told your friends the same, and you let them catch you munching on donuts and cupcakes.

Friends and family members can also serve as your support group to cheer you on. If you can involve them in the process, you’re more likely to stick to your New Year’s resolutions than doing it alone.

We understand it is not easy to be consistent all throughout the year, but if you practice these tips on how to stick to New Year’s resolution – soon enough, it will all feel natural to you, and you would have achieved your goals already even before you realized it! Don’t be too hard on yourself and enjoy the process of turning over a new leaf. Good luck!
