You’re at the office when you receive an invitation from a friend to have drinks or dinner after work. You look at yourself in the mirror and realize your day makeup has not only worn away, it also looks totally boring for happy hour. Fortunately, there’s no need to do a full makeup reboot from your day makeup when you’re going out for the night. We’ve rounded up our best makeup tips on how to transform day to night makeup!
Every girl should carry a makeup kit of essentials with her during the day. You never know when the need to snazzy up your daytime look arises! But what exactly should you carry? Your bottles of foundation, a complete brush roll, or 12 pan eye shadow palettes? Not practical. Only bring what is necessary to clean up your makeup and make you look fresh.
Makeup Remover Wipes
We recommend makeup remover wipes to clean up eyeliner or mascara smudges during the day. You can also use it to remove your lipstick and gently exfoliate your lips so it’s ready for a new layer of lipstick.
Facial Mist & Sponge
To freshen up your current makeup base, invest in a face mist like Mac Fix+ or Evian Mineral Water Facial Spray. This instantly adds moisture to your face and evens out clumpy makeup that may have settled on the lines around your eyes or frown lines. Right after spraying the mist on patchy makeup areas, take a blending sponge like the Beauty Blender to gently dab over the clumpy makeup.
Concealer
You don’t have to carry the whole bottle of foundation with you. Your favorite concealer will do the trick for easy touch-up. Apply concealer under your eyes, around your nose and lips, and in between your eyebrows. Use your fingers to warm up and blend the product. No extra tools required!
Blush & Contour
Contouring can mean the world of difference for your look! Take a contour cream and apply on the hollows of your cheeks. Then, dab on cheek blush on your cheekbones. ELF has a blush and bronzer cream palette that’s great for touch-ups.
Define the Focus: Bold Eyes or Bold Lips
Now it’s time to start defining your makeup with either bold eyes or bold lips. You want to keep it that way to prevent one from overpowering another.
To do a simple bold eye makeup, give your eyelids a wash of color using cream shadow which you can best apply with your fingers. Define your crease with a darker color. Line your eyes with a black kohl liner and smudge it softly with a Q-tip. Curl your lashes and apply loads of mascara, and you’re good!
To emphasize the lips, go neutral on the eyes with a champagne colored lid, re-apply your mascara, and wear your bold lipstick.
Now that you have transformed day to night makeup, spritz on your favorite scent, smooth out the wrinkles in your skirt, and you’re ready for dinner and drinks after work.
