Make the remaining days of your vacation more memorable with your significant other. We’re here to help you plan the best road trip for you and your partner!
1. Always consult your partner
We know that planning your first road trip as a couple can be really overwhelming so here’s our advice to you, lovebirds: Compromise, compromise, and compromise! Be considerate of each other’s requests. For starters, pick a destination that you would both enjoy. It’s not fair to make your boyfriend drive for five hours to a place that he would not be able to appreciate, right?
2. Embrace the sudden changes
It’s good to have an idea of the entire trip beforehand so you can make the appropriate preparations. However, do not be frustrated when things do not go according to plan. Your first road trip is not meant to be perfect. It’s meant to be fun! Do not fall madly in love with your itinerary. You are going to miss out on great memories if you keep worrying about your schedule. Spontaneity is fun too!
3. Be patient with each other
It’s so easy to get upset especially when your partner forgets something that you asked him to do for your trip. But hey, who wants to ruin an entire trip by bickering over a trivial matter? It’s your time to unwind and bond so do not waste that chance. Tip: Make a checklist of all the items that you need to bring and ensure that everything’s A-okay before hopping into the car.
4. Come up with fun games
Remember that episode of Friends where Joey and Phoebe went on a road trip and played the 20 Questions game (AKA the “frienaissance”) to renew their friendship? You can totally do that with your significant other to make the trip more exciting! It’s a fun way to learn more about each other and it’s the perfect distraction from traffic! Win-win.
5. Cherish the little things
Make your adventure more memorable by taking lots of pictures together. Do this not just because you want to post something on Instagram (#roadtripwiththebae sounds like a good hashtag by the way) but also because you want to be able to look back and remember one of the most special days of your younger years. So don’t be ashamed to use that selfie stick because you’re saving something for your memory bank!
