In a time where Kim Kardashian seems to be really popular, going to the supermarket or to the park with false eyelashes is totally normal. It gives your eyes an extra pop and it just makes your face and makeup look better. However, it can be really intimidating to apply false lashes by yourself, especially if you’re not used to it. Not to worry! Here’s a step-by-step procedure on how you could apply your false lashes like a pro! Dig up your lash glue, grab a mirror, and get ready to rock a Katy Perry-like flutter.
1. Find the right lashes for you
The first step is to find your perfect lash. You can find a variety of styles that go from demure and natural to full-on drama.
2. Do a lash curler twice
Before applying your false eyelashes, do a lash curler on your natural lashes first. Get as close to the roots of the lashes as possible and curl it twice in the same place for the maximum result.
3. Apply mascara on your curled lashes
The next step is to apply mascara before you apply the false lashes. If you have super long lashes, you can do mascara after the fake lashes, but it’s best to do it right after curling the lashes, so this way it holds the curl in place.
4. Cut the false eye lash in half
Maneuvering a full strip of lashes is tricky, so cutting the strip in half with cuticle scissors will make everything a lot easier.
5. Squeeze the lash glue on your hand
Squeeze a fine line of lash glue (you don’t need much) on the back of your non-dominant hand. Gently run the seam of the outer half of a lash strip through the glue.
6. Assemble the false lashes in place
Wait a beat (so the glue gets a little tacky), then lay the strip on the outer half of your upper lashline, positioning the seam as close to your lashline as possible. The trick is to drop the strip onto your lashes from above (don’t come in from the front, perpendicular to your eye). The glue will do the rest—no need to press. Then, after running it through glue, drop the other half of the strip onto the inner half of your upper lashline. The two strips should overlap slightly at the middle of your lashline.
7. Apply liquid liner over your upper lashlines
Once you’ve done both eyes, gently run a liquid liner over your upper lashlines to conceal the seams of the strips.
