1. Do not wear white after Labor Day
For generations, when September rolled around, white cardigans were wrapped with mothballs, and put away for a long winter’s nap. But white goes with everything and can cast such a flattering glow on your face that it seems unfair to relegate it to one brief season. Crisp white jeans, cozy ivory fisherman sweater or a snowy-colored wool coat are nice outfits that will stand out year round!
2. Your bag should always match your shoes
We all have the freedom of choice. So if you want to wear a yellow bag and yellow shoes, we absolutely won’t stop you. However, you don’t need to abide by this order every single time you get dressed. A playful mix of accessories always elevate a look.
3. No mixing prints!
From polka dots to stripes to paisley and leopard, print mixing was hands down one of the most popular street style trends of the last few seasons.
4. Sneakers should never leave the gym
Giving your feet a break doesn’t mean you have to look sloppy. Sneakers look great outside the gym, just ditch the socks and wear with a crisp button-down, cropped pants and a tailored coat for a pulled together weekend look.
5. You have to be model tall to wear long dresses and pants
With a good tailor on speed dial, shorter girls can wear anything their hearts desire. Whether it’s wide-leg trousers or a long dress, it all comes down to the perfect fit.
6. Do not wear stockings or socks with open-toe shoes
Pairing tights with open-toe shoes is certainly a look, but a silver shoe against black tights can really add to a look. Same goes for socks and sandals, the school girl riff plays well off of a sophisticated outfit.
7. Never mix gold and silver!
Whether it’s your jewelry or accessories, metallics of any shade only complement each other’s gilded pleasures.
