The morning of the first day of the 2015/16 school year is upon us! Some have already started some will start this week and others still have a few more weeks of summer! As our first day came I was scrambling around to get my son some breakfast to eat. Then of course he decided he wanted to pack a lunch and we had to have a snack too. I don’t know how it happened? I was not prepared for this day that I knew was coming! I didn’t buy school lunch food and drinks, I didn’t even have anything more than toast for breakfast! Summer seems to have ended abruptly, even the weather today is feeling very fall.
The end of summer for those who have kids in grade school means shifting the night time routine to earlier bed times and falling back into the old morning school routine. Fall sports are starting and homework will need to be done. The entire family falls into a whole new routine for the school year. I am sure to become more prepared for these school days. Especially when my little one starts pre-school in a few weeks, my heart will break I just know I am going to cry dropping him of his first day. They grow so fast its really heart breaking!
This year my oldest will have a school calendar to keep track of all his homework that he will bring home every day for me to check. This will help keep us organized and on track. To stay organized this school year we will have a calendar just for him to put down all of his school events, sports, test days, homework due dates and so on. Having his own calendar will be something for him to recognize days and time, as well as when he has work to be done or practices to attend. I think keeping a calendar for each child as they get older will teach them some responsibility as well as keep the entire family organized! With numerous children to keep track of their schedules and events I feel this will be a good practice.
There are many ways to stay organized during the school year as a family. Calendars are number one! Also following a routine, before and after school is key! This routine will include getting ready for the day in the morning and getting ready for the next day in the evening. Being prepared is a good way to live life, rather than feeling overwhelmed and frantic. Even though at times when I am most prepared I still feel frantic!!
Best of luck to you in preparing for the new school year and staying organized this year!
With Love,
Im very pleased with your work.
