You are looking forward to the surf, the sand, the sun, and all the fun times that go with being at a beach for the best in vacation relaxation. Other than lightening up your makeup routine for the beach since it looks a little silly to wear a full face of office type makeup to the beach, what are some other ways that you can make sure your makeup stays on? There are some fantastic new products that will seal in your makeup, making it last much longer right from the start.
A Setting Spray
Makeup Forever makes a setting spray that you use right after you finish your makeup application. It’s called, “Mix and Fix” ($30) to give you 12 full hours of flawless coverage. It’s dermatologist tested, and alcohol free so it won’t dry out your skin. It’s perfect for the beach since it’s sweat and water resistant. Another company that makes a product like this is Urban Decay’s “All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray” ($30) which is similar, but boosted a staying power of 16 hours long. It is very lightweight so you hardly feel it on your skin. The way this one works is that with their patented technology it is supposed to lower the temperature of your makeup making it less susceptible to fading away as the day goes on.
Waterproof Is Your Friend
If you don’t normally use waterproof makeup for whatever reason, whether you don’t enjoy how much work it is to take off, you might want to make the concession for the beach. Waterproof formulas are your friend especially if you are going to be actually in the water, and not just sunning yourself on a lounge chair. You definitely want to invest in a good waterproof mascara, because even if the rest of your makeup is light then you still will look put together with mascara on. An all over waterproof eye color stick is another good choice. Makeup Forever makes an “Aquamatic Eye Crayon” ($22) that come in 15 fantastic colors that glide on easily, and stay put even in the waves. The Iridescent Turquoise, Diamond Peach, Metallic Golden Taupe shades are three of the best ones for a pretty resort look. The best part is that they will stay on until you take them off at night.
A Lip Stain To Live By
Instead of using a goopy, sticky gloss when you are on the beach, what about a lip stain? This is the perfect wash of color that last for hours, and isn’t going to get stuck in your hair if the wind is whipping about on the beach. Yves St. Laurent makes a lip stain called, “Pop Water Glossy Stain” that is a long wearing 10 hour shiny stain that hydrates as well. A few beachy shades to try are Rouge Splash, Eau De Corale, and Onde Rose.
