Post Baby: Get your body back!

Icecream use

Congratulations on the birth of your new bundle of joy! As we know those little miracles are worth every single stretch mark and additional pound pregnancy has given us. Now that baby’s here it’s time to get your body back to the way it was pre-pregnancy, but how to do it? Here are some tips and tricks to snap back to being you!

First of all, no more midnight ice cream sundaes! We all went through the pregnancy cravings but now that those are over, lock the fridge. I remember the days when I ate half a chocolate cake out of the fridge, in one sitting, and yes it was a double layer cake! That’s no longer acceptable. We know that finding time to eat healthy after baby’s here can be difficult, just keep the healthy snacks handy and leave the junk food at the store.

What to snack on? Here are some ideas:

  • Apples and peanut butter
  • Raw nuts
  • Any kid of fruits and veggies
  • Try hazelnut spreads for a chocolate fix
  • Pita chips and hummus
  • Yogurt and granola

Find your favorites and keep them handy, these are all easy grab and go snacks and are easy to eat with a baby on the hip! Chop your veggies into strips in advance so when you need snack you can grab a handful to munch on while feeding baby.

Sleepuse

Secondly, get your sleep! When baby sleeps you need to sleep. You need proper energy to get through your day, and be able to take care of baby and yourself. Eating healthy and getting as much sleep as you can throughout the night is going to help you feel more energized during the day. Therefore when baby naps after keeping you up all night feel free to nap too.

Yogause Now it’s time to get moving! There are many different things you can do to start getting your body back into shape. Feel free to ease into it. Start by loading baby up in the stroller and just get walking. Fresh air and getting out will feel good for both of you and get you moving. Then when you’re feeling ready, find a workout routine that works for you. We like the 25 minute workout programs, the less time it takes to get fit, the better. Most video programs will provide a 5 day work out plan that you can follow along with. Get started and stick to it! Create a goal that’s obtainable and keep yourself on track. Try planning your workout to fit into your daily schedule and get it done at the same time every day. Remember it’s just a short time each day to commit and get it done; you will be on your way back to being you in no time!

With baby here, life is new for everyone. Remember to still take time for you and get yourself healthy and back into shape. Doing things like snacking healthy, sleeping when possible and getting yourself moving are going to help you get your pre-pregnancy body back!

Good Luck new Mommy!
