DIY Clothes Organization Ideas That Will Save Your Life!

DIY Clothes Organization Ideas - main image We can all agree that a clean and organized closet can be really relaxing and hassle free, so we try to declutter as much as we can. You don’t want to be late for work because you can’t find that cute dress that you bought a year ago! However, organizing and decluttering can cost you a lot of money, so we have compiled do-it-yourself clothes organization ideas for you to have a nice looking closet without spending a lot of money! This can work for your kids’ closets as well!

1.   Use cute icons to label your kids’ drawers.

You can put a drawing of an underwear in one drawer for them to know that it’s where their underwear are, or you can put a drawing of a bed so they know that their pajamas are in there. You can also place a drawing of socks so they know where their socks are. It’s simple but it adds that fun look into your kids’ drawers.

2.   Organize your kids’ or your clothes by the days of the week!

You can maybe setup a shelf with 7 layers, and place the words Monday to Sunday on each layer. You can place the clothes that you will be wearing in which day. It saves you time to pick what to wear and it also looks really organized. Your kids will also not be running up to you anymore to ask what they will be wearing to school! 3.    Assign different seasons of clothes to different color hangers in your closet.

Green for spring, blue for summer, yellow for summer, and so on, so that you can easily shift your wardrobe in and out each season.

4.   Tired of the endless search for matching sheet sets?

Store your fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillow cases in one pillow case from the set. Problem solved!

5.   Double your closet space by using soda can tabs to hook hangers together.

Inexpensive and almost invisible. Who knew that a can pull tab can be so handy?

6.   Ladders offer a rustic way to decoratively store the things that won’t fit in your closet.

A ladder? How cool is that?! You can use it vertically and just use the ladder steps to hang anything, or you can place it horizontally by hanging it high in the wall so that you can use it as a clothes rack!

7.    Repurpose bathroom hardware to create a DIY jewelry rack

A towel rack and hooks make a handy way to hang up necklaces and store your bracelets, without them getting tangled up in a jewelry box.

8.   Seasons shifting? Store last season’s clothes in vacuum-sealed space bags.

They take up a fraction of the space as regular storage units.

9.   As you’re getting rid of clothes, label different boxes for different potential locations.

Place the items in the box and label them as ‘Gifts’, ‘Donate’, etc. Place those boxes in a shelf so you can easily see if you need to put some into any box. The only thing you have to do is drop ‘em off!

10.  Use shoe organizers for almost anything!

Shoe organizers are great for shoes—but they’re also great ways to store socks and underwear.

11.  Love your pretty heels? Display (and organize ‘em) with a picture rail shoe rack.

To do: Line the walls of a walk-in closet, bedroom, dressing area with picture-rail molding. You can buy pre-primed pieces and have them cut to fit your space at the store. Paint the molding to match your wall, or paint it in a neat contrast color for a bold accent to your space.
